July 26th Ventura Theatre DI was hanging out in front of the venue when I arrived at the Ventura Theatre. It's always a pleasure to hang out with my friends in DI as we kicked back prior to the show. I entered just in time to see DI take the stage. Great energy and stage presence combined with their classic songs I grew up listening to. The crowd was fired up and a great pit ensued (hence my minimal pictures for them). From what I heard, immediately after they played they packed up and went to a show in Hemet! The Dickies took the stage with what appears to me to be a rather twisted comedy approach to their presence with the puppet and blow up doll, comedy! After their set I was able to hang out with Stan Lee again and b.s. for a couple of minutes.
Agnostic Front and The Damned are grouped together. I
enjoyed finally seeing them both perform although I didn't catch either of their
full sets. The Misfits took the stage finally and the crowd wasn't disappointed. awesome energy combined with classic punk rock that has endured the years. 25 years later they are still tearing it up. The line up is Jerry Only on the bass and lead vocals, Dez Cadena (from Black Flag) on lead guitar and Marky Ramone shredding on the drums. After the show Marky was more than a little disappointed with the lighting as his comments showed. Jerry Only brought up a fan from the crowd and allowed him to play his bass guitar (Photos didn't turn out) after their set while he autographed anything the crowd brought forth. |
